Trafford Community Leisure Trust is a Charitable not for profit organisation meaning any surplus revenue the business makes is reinvested back into the facilities and service. The company is governed by a board of voluntary Trustees.
Peter Martin, Chair

Peter is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Management. He had a long career with Unilever, is a Director and Past President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Chairs the Tame Valley Partnership and Tameside Education and Business Partnership. A resident of Bowdon, Peter is married with two daughters and four grandchildren, he is a keen sportsman and has a single figure golf handicap and enjoys travelling with his wife.
Bruce Learner, Vice Chair

Bruce has a geography degree and a Masters Degree in Environmental resources. He is Community Affairs Manager with Kellogg's, having spent 10 years working on community based regeneration with Groundwork Trust and three years with the Community Fund managing the distribution of £30million of grant aid each year. His work with Kellogg's focuses on urban regeneration and he is Vice Chair of Old Trafford Community Development and Chair of Groundwork, Manchester.
Bruce is an active Triathlete and a regular user of Stretford Leisure Centre. He has two small children whom he hopes will maintain the family commitment to Arsenal Football Club.
Awan, Iftikhar Ahmed

Iftikhar is an independent consultant with a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a B.Sc. in Data Processing. He has worked in financial services and local government sectors specialising in customer service management and as Director of Change for a major packaging company. His work has been in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
He has significant involvement in community work at local and national level and is on the Board of an international charity. He broadcasts on BBC Radio and his personal interests are time with his family, reading history and cinema and theatre.
Jim Cumbes

Jim is a former professional footballer with Tranmere Rovers, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa and a former professional cricketer with Lancashire, Surrey, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. His professional careers spanning 22 years. Having been Commercial Manager at Warwickshire and Marketing Manager at Lancashire, he became Chief Executive of Lancashire in 1977. His personal interests are sporting but clearly football and cricket are close to his heart. He keeps fit, enjoys time with his family and spends the rest of his time on gardening and 'Billy bodge it' DIY!
Mike Dean

Mike is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Whitworth Scholar, having served a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship and graduated with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Salford. He is working for Proctor & Gamble Product Supply Ltd in Trafford Park as HR Manager. He is a keen sportsman playing football and golf and makes regular visits to the gym to keep fit.
Ian Goulty

Ian graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford in 1976 with an MA in history and Blues in hockey, lawn tennis and real tennis.
He retired at the end of April 2007 after 20 years as a partner in the real estate department of law firm Addleshaw Goddard based in Manchester. He acted for a wide range of public and private companies, local authorities and charities. Ian is a Member of The Together Trust (a charity that give aid to those with disabilities and children and young persons). He is also a Governor of The Royal Botanical Society of Manchester and the Northern Counties.
Ian's involvement in sport (current and past) includes:
- Past Captain 1st XI Bowdon Hockey Club and life member
- Past Captain 1st VI and still active member of Hale Lawn Tennis Club
- Past Captain and present Trustee of Hale Golf Club
- Past fixture secretary and committee member but still active member of Manchester Tennis & Racquet Club (real tennis)
George Johnstone

George is responsible for all Manchester United's property interests. He has worked at the Club for six years following many years with CWS in property management and development. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and as well as having a keen interest in sport he enjoys music, reading and travelling.
Tarun Kapur CBE

Tarun has been teaching for 20 years, the last 6 as Headteacher of Ashton on Mersey School. During his time as Head the school has achieved Specialist Sports College status and Beacon School status. The school has been described as 'Outstanding' by OFSTED and it has a received number of other awards including Charter Mark and Investors in People. The success of the school has meant that Tarun works at National level with the DfES on policy development and is on the Football Foundation Funding panel.
The school also provides the education for Manchester United's young professionals. Tarun's was awarded a CBE in 2008 for his services to education. His interests are sporting, he is a Manchester United supporter, and he plays sport himself and devotes much of his time to acting as 'taxi driver' for his three daughters.
Steve Pullen MBE

Steve started his career as an engineer with British Railways but his interest in sport led him to train as a PE teacher after a spell as a stuntman for Granada Television. Steve was Head of PE at the Chetham's School of Music for nearly 30 years. He is a Fellow of the British Physical Education Association and studied in Japan under a Churchill Fellowship. His main sporting interest is Judo and he represented Great Britain at Judo and Wrestling between 1963 and 1978. He was National Coach and Team Manager for the Paralympic Games in 1988/92/96/2000 and was a member of the Jack Cunningham working party on Elite Sports Funding in 2000/01.
Steve was awarded the MBE in 1999, he is in the National Coaching Foundation Hall of Fame and was National Coaching Foundation English Coach of the Year in 1989, 1991, and 1994. Steve's interests outside sport include music, travel and Egyptology.
Dylan Butt

Dylan Butt has been a Trafford Councillor for the past 7yrs and has been appointed as a Trafford Leisure Trust Board Member for the past 4yrs. He has previously been a senior member on the GM Passenger Transport Authority dealing with Policy and Capital projects.
As well as being the Chairman of the Accounts & Audit Committee at Trafford Council, he is now Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee on the GM Fire and Rescue Authority. Dylan also has an Aerospace Engineering background with extensive experience within the Aerospace & Defence Industry.
