About Us – Governance

The Code for Sports Governance sets out the levels of transparency, accountability, and financial integrity that are required from any organisation in receipt of public funding.

Trafford Leisure receives the majority of its income from our customers, with grant funding secured where possible to support targeted activities that help us to achieve our Vision and Strategic outcomes. We at Trafford Leisure, a community interest company are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring we operate to the highest standards of governance and in doing so have adopted the Tier Three code for sports governance framework. The Trafford Leisure Board has a plan in place that the Board will share progress on annually to ensure that alongside the investment plans taking place at each of our centre’s over the coming years, we will comply with all requirements of a Tier Three organisation. In doing so, adopting five principles of good governance includes a strong commitment to safeguarding.

 

  1. Structure (Board of Directors)

Trafford Leisure shall have a clear and appropriate governance structure, led by a properly constituted Board which is collectively responsible for the long-term success of the organisation and exclusively vested with the power to lead it. Click here to find out more about the role of our Board and our Board members.

Trafford Leisure recruits and engages people with appropriate diversity, independence, skills, experience, and knowledge to ensure inclusive debate and good decision-making to achieve our strategic outcomes and goals.   1. Communication

Trafford Leisure is transparent and accountable, engaging effectively with all stakeholders and nurturing internal democracy. On this page, we share details of our principal risks and plan and publish our summary business plan alongside annual reports. We want to be as open and transparent as possible and where we consider that information is not to be shared publicly, we will publish the reason for this decision.

 

  1. Standards and Conduct

We will uphold high standards of integrity, and values and will engage in regular and effective evaluation to drive continuous improvement. We do this by publishing our Trafford Leisure values and behaviours and our Directors’ code of conduct.

 

  1. Policies and Processes

Trafford Leisure complies with all applicable laws and regulations, considers the social and environmental impact of their decisions; undertakes responsible financial strategic planning, and has appropriate controls and risk management procedures.
