Gymnastics
Trafford Community Leisure Trust delivers one of the most comprehensive gymnastic course programme in the Manchester and Northwest areas for under 16s. All our gymnastic sessions come under Gymnastics Trafford and are available across a selection of our Leisure Centres.
Gymnastics Trafford introduces children from an early age (18 months) to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle that leads to a huge variety of enjoyable and rewarding opportunities through competitive and non-competitive sport.
The programme follows 4 Stages:-
Stage 1 - Gymfants
Gymfants 18 months - 3 years A fun class incorporating music to help children to develop Key movement and body management skills. (Parents must stay with their children throughout this session)
Stage 2 - Gymstars
Gymstars 3 - 5 years - A structured gymnastics class for children of pre school age. This class teaches progressive gymnastics skills that prepare children for club sessions.
Stage 3 - General Gymnastics
A - General Gymnastics These structured sessions will teach progression on the floor and on gymnastic apparatus.
B - Age Groups 5 - 8 years and 8 - 16 years.
Rhythmic Gymnastics: These structured sessions teaches basic rhythmic gymnastic skills incorporating hand held apparatus. Girls aged 6 - 8 years.
Stage 4 - Rhythmic Gymnastics
Gymnastics for this stage will be selected by the head coach in consultation with local coaches. This will enable talented gymnasts from all club general sessions to train and compete up to national standards. All stages will work towards the British Gymnastics Awards Scheme.
Stage 6 - Performance
Gymnastics for the performance group will be selected by the head coach in consultation with the local coaches.
These will operate as a continuation of the Club General and Rhythmic Gymnastics which will enable talented gymnasts from all the club general sessions to train and compete up to national standards.
