About Golf at Trafford
Trafford Community Leisure Trust has been operating Altrincham & William Wroe golf courses since 2003. Since then the courses have received continual reinvestment and have grown from strength to strength.
"Having lived in Stretford for over 20 years I have played golf at both Altrincham and William Wroe for a long time, however in the last 5 years these two courses have bloomed. The standards of the greens, fairways, tees and layouts are class and much better than a lot of other pay and play and private courses I have played at in the area. Two years ago, for the first time I joined Altrincham and I am thoroughly enjoying the course and my golf and my handicap has now come down to 6". Richard Hall, Stretford.
Altrincham Golf Course, just a stones throw form the town centre, is a mature, challenging course that boasts a wide variety of hazards ranging from lakes and streams to thick foliage that will test any golfer. Established over 100 years ago it was in 1935 that Mr RH Lee Chairman of the Council formerly opened Altrincham as a municipal although it had been a private members club, Timperley GC, prior to this. The facility offers a well-stocked pro-shop and custom fit studio, driving range, practice areas and a fantastic food and drink menu is available from the adjacent Old Hall Pub.
William Wroe Golf Course, situated in Flixton is a shorter course but equally a tricky test for all abilities. The art of placement as opposed to power is the key to a low score, you are sure to use every club in the bag. On course facilities include a short game practice area, putting green, pro-shop.
Handicaps, competitions and social functions are available via membership of the resident golf clubs.
Trafford Community Leisure Trust is committed to reinvesting back into its courses and facilities and as such provides an ever expanding and developing experience for all its members and visitors.
