Trafford Metro Swimming Club

BACKGROUND

The club was founded in 1913 as Sale Amateur Swimming Club, essentially a teaching and lifesaving club for one evening per week. In 1973  the new Sale Leisure Centre was complete and a bold decision was made to increase to four evenings per week. The club soon established itself at County level and beyond. In 1982/3 early morning sessions were introduced and the club soon had National and International representation. In 1991 the structure further developed as part of the Trafford Borough initiative and the club name was changed to Trafford Metropolitan Borough Swimming Club.
