Disability Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons for children with disabilities started approximately 6½ years ago and were secured through a partnership between Manchester United Football Club and Urmston Leisure Centre. 6 ½ years later and that partnership is stronger than ever and we continue to use the fantastic facility at Carrington to provide lessons.

Over the years, the programme has grown and now operates on a Wednesday and Thursday evening. All children who attend Carrington lessons are taught on either a 1-2-1, or a small group format, dependent on the needs of the children. All teachers are Lifeguard trained and teach from in the water.

For an assessment of needs – please contact Urmston Leisure Centre

NEW FOR 2011!

Alpha Swimming Lessons

Due to high demand, Trafford Community Leisure Trust have been able to seek funding via Aiming High to increase our swimming lesson provision for children with additional needs.

These lessons are ideal for children unable to cope in a larger class scenario - the maximum ratio is 1:6. We are pleased to be working in partnership with Sport Trafford who have kindly provided us with some pupils from the successful Leadership Academy, to be on hand to assist the children from in the water.

Stretford Leisure Centre is an ideal setting for these lessons to take place as we are able to close the small pool off from the mainpool to maintain a warm air temperature and reduce noise which can oftern be a distraction.

Lessons are available NOW  on a Friday evening, for more information please contact Stretford Leisure Centre
