Former Trafford Leisure Jade Jones retained her Olympic taekwondo title!

Former Trafford Leisure taekwondo athelte Jade Jones retained her Great Britain's Olympic taekwondo title of the 2016 Games!

Jade won at London 2012 olympics and claimed GB's first Olympic gold medal in taekwondo. Jade trained from a young age at George H Carnall in Urmston and now at 23 she has won a thrilling final 16-7 to defeat Spain's Eva Calvo Gomez in the -57kg category in Rio. Two head kicks in the third round sealed victory for Jones - who has now won both GB's taekwondo golds since its introduction as a medal sport in 2000.

George H Carnall continues to provide opportunities for taekwondo from around the borough and is also on offer at Altrincham, Sale and Urmston leisure centre's. Manchester Aces Taekwondo is one of the most successful World Taekwondo Federation clubs. The club has produced a number of outstanding world class athletes over its twenty five years and has strong links to the national squad. The family orientated club trains at Georrge H carnall twice a week and is suitable for all capabilitles.

"I'm still young so to be double Olympic champion already is crazy to be honest," she told BBC Sport.
