Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy is an extension of the Youth Sports Trust's national Step into Sport programme. The aim of the Acedemy is to help, support and encourage young leaders to try new opportunities by providing mentoring support, appropriate placements and volunteering expreiences. It also provides opportunities to gain qualifications and awards.
Each school can nominate 5 young leaders and below is a criteria for selecting leaders for the academy.
Essential
- Aged between 14-19 years
- Must be interested in Leadership and volunteering
- Has had previous or current involvement in delivery of soprt festivals to young people
- Is currently involved in sports volunteering on a regular basis in either:- Schools, Club or Community settings
- Must be organised and have good time management skills
- Must show commitment and the ability to take responsibility
- Abitliy to portray a positive image and be a good role model to young people
- Commtted to attend at least 5 meetings over the academic year.
Step into Sport On-line Volunteer Passport (SiS VP)
The SiS volunteer passport is an online portfolio. The system will allow leaders to log and manage their volunteering online. Each leader on the academy will recieve a log in number and they will be able to access the site from September 2010.
Step into Sport Volunteering Awards
All volunteering hours accrued will be rewarded and recognised through the step into sport programme.
