Schools Programme
Sport Trafford currently deliver an all year round school sports programme in special schools in the borough. Sports delivered range from athletics, basketball, zone hockey, New age kurling, boccia and multi skills.
Festivals / Events
They are a number of Festivals/Events that are organised by Sport Trafford and County partnership annually which the schools participate in. Such as:- Paralympics road show, Youth Games, Mini Games and various interschool festivals.
Multi Sports & Activities Week
Sport Traffordt run a multi sports activities week in the summer for both able and disabled children. The activities week is a unique opportunity for all young people between the ages of 8-16 to take part in organised sports in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Playground to Podium
Playground to Podium is the national strategy for the identification, development and support of talented young disabled athlete. It forms a pathway which will take young disabled people from PE, through participation, to high level performance and competition.
The aim of the programme is to produce our next Paralympians and elite disabled performers by identifying young people with ability and providing a talent pathway. It also provides choices of high quality provision for pupils, support the achievement of the 5 hour offer, develops the confidence and self belief of our disabled young people and links with NGB Competition Framework
Target:
- Pupils with special educational needs – physical/sensory impairments and severe learning disabilities from mainstream and special schools.
- The framework does recognise that there are other performance routes and opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and deaf/hearing impaired athletes and that these too can lead to international competition and success.
