Trafford Sports Awards Reach Their 10th Anniversary
Thursday 15th September saw Lancashire County Cricket Club play host to the 10th annual Trafford Sports Awards.
The event recognises and celebrates the achievements of the Boroughs sports personnel.
This years event, sponsored by the
, was attended by over 250 guests from schools, sports clubs and community organisations from within the borough. The evening was made extra special by Lancashire winning the County Championship on the same evening that their Chief Executive Mr Jim Cumbes was the guest speaker.
Following the opening address and piece from the guest speaker, the evening began recognising all of Trafford’s Sports Clubs who have recently received accreditation to show that they are safe, effective and child friendly organisations. Then it was on to the main awards of the evening, the nominations received were shortlisted before the overall winners were announced. The winners were:

The winners of the first six categories will now go on to represent Trafford at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards also to be held at Lancashire County Cricket Club on 11th November.
Kay Statham, Senior Sports Development Officer for Sport Trafford Said, ‘It has been a fantastic evening and very humbling to hear all of the inspirational stories about the nominees. It really does make you appreciate the efforts of volunteers, without them much of the sport in the borough would simply not happen. We have a strong reputation for sport in Trafford and that is testament to the people that have been recognised here tonight’.
